Classrooms
Infants: Our smallest students start at 6 weeks of age. The sights, sounds, and intentional interactions with our caregivers encourage a positive disposition and love of learning. To transition out of the infant room children must be comfortable sleeping on a cot, be eating table food, and no longer drinking from a bottle. Parents will receive a written daily record regarding their child’s day.
Toddlers: Between 1 and 2 years of age our students move into the toddler room. Our caregivers work in conjunction with the parents to prepare children for toilet training and preschool. We work on color, shape and letter recognition, dance and sing, read stories, and have plenty of time for guided creative explorative play based on HighScope curriculum. We also use ZooPhonics as a literacy supplement. Our daily activities include music, art, sensory, large motor, fine motor, and literacy. Parents will receive a written daily record regarding their child’s day. Daycare Preschool/Pre-K: All of our preschool/pre-K students work with our HighScope curriculum and ZooPhonics which provides thoughtful learning opportunities and helps prepare them for kindergarten. We learn letters, numbers, counting, practice writing our name, sing and dance, experience math, science, and social studies and have plenty of time for dramatic and free play. To be enrolled in our pre-school age program the child must have started toilet training and be decently far along on their toilet training journey (diapers/pull-ups at nap time are ok). All children enrolled in our daycare program still recieve our full preschool/pre-k curriculum. This option just allows families an extended day for those needing additional hours of care. Preschool/Pre-K Only: Our preschool and pre-k only programs are school year programs. Preschool is for those children that have at least one more year before they enter school. Pre-K is for those that plan to enter school (Young 5's or Kindergarten) next year. Preschool is from 8:15-11:30am and Pre-K is for a "school day" from 8:30-2:30pm to help them prepare for the longer days ahead when they are in school. Our program is full of fun, hands on learning experiences that help build a foundation and love of learning. The curriculum for our preschool/pre-k only programs is the same as our daycare program. This is simply an additional option for those families not needing full daycare but still wanting an early childhood education experience. If you'd like your child to attend our preschool only program but have additional needs (early drop off or late pick-up) please call to discuss. We do our best to accommodate all needs. School age: Our school age program is for children who have started kindergarten to 12 years of age. Learning activities and social experiences are built into the daily activities. High quality care is provided on non-school days, snow days, and full time during winter/spring/summer breaks. We also offer before and after school care during the school year. If your child attends Sycamore Elementary a Hopkins bus will transport them from school to Little Vikings. |
